A violent mob attacked Muslim’s house because there were allegations that his family stored and consumed beef at home last year.
Some Muslim men have been accused of eating or smuggling beef and they have already suffered from several attacks across the country.
There is a video which has gone viral and caused protests by Dalit groups. This video shows that the members of a Hindu hardline group stripped and beat four Dalit men with sticks.
Groups of protesters came out to the streets of Ahmedabad city on Wednesday. They were armed with wooden sticks and shouted slogans.
Demonstrations began on Monday. People from other several parts of the state came to protests as well. National highway was blocked and there were clashes between the police and demonstrators, they have also set government buses on fire.
Police used fires teargas shells and tried to control stone-pelting mobs with sticks. They detained hundreds of people.
There are several wounded police officers and one was killed.
Four policemen were suspended after Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel has said that her government was committed to protecting the Dalits. She ordered an investigation of the incident.
